Vision of a Baby-Friendly Future:
Six Faces of Society
Pigeon works toward this vision of the future
in a range of different ways.

Babies are part of
everyone’s everyday life - In today’s society, places where parents can go on casual outings with their babies are limited. Declining fertility rates also mean relatively few opportunities to encounter babies. In the world of the future, we hope there will be more such opportunities in everyday life, making everyone feel closer to babies. We believe this will help us make progress toward a kinder society where babies are understood and accepted.

Loose, friendly ties facilitating
easy cooperation around
raising children - With the nuclearization of the family, raising children is becoming a task handled only by parents, which leaves little room for accepting babies as they are. In such situations, cooperation from third parties is vital to ease the pressure on parents.
We believe that parents should have more loose, friendly ties with others, instead of bearing all the burden themselves. This should allow more emotional leeway in parent-baby relationships and help both sides enjoy each other’s company more. - Foster more loose, friendly ties between parents and others to make discussion and mutual aid easier, instead of leaving parents to bear the entire burden of childrearing.

Creativity from babies
brings excitement to society - Babies are endlessly curious and creative. And yet, we adults allow our adult thinking to restrict how babies behave and exercise that creativity. Perhaps what we lack is the willingness to learn from babies—to create and get excited alongside them. In the future, instead of seeing parenting as simply “child-minding,” we will be called on to turn scenes from daily life into moments that encourage creativity from babies.

No barriers to
raising children - Many people hope to continue building their career after having children. Sometimes, however, people are forced to weigh childbirth and parenting against career-building advancement and give up one or the other.
To change this situation, society must recognize the value in having and raising children. Flexible systems and career stages must be prepared for those who give birth and raise children to ensure this. - Prepare flexible systems and career stages for employees having and raising babies, instead of making them choose between children and career.

All babies are helped to
develop and grow,
regardless of the conditions
of their birth - Babies are born in conditions and circumstances of many different kinds. Some are born earlier than their expected date, some have low birth weights, and some have illnesses or physical conditions requiring medical treatment. We must reach out to ensure that all babies have the chance to develop, and that their parents feel secure raising them, regardless of the conditions of their birth.

A comfortable world
where babies are not troubled by
environmental risks - The environmental issue is only growing more serious. Some mothers and fathers feel anguish at the idea that the products they use today are robbing children of a future.
We must empathize with this pain, and review every aspect of our business activities to eliminate our environmental burden.
It is also vital to alert society to the risks babies may face during their lives in the future. - Review business activities to eliminate environmental burden, and alert society to the risks babies may face during their lives in the future.
